CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-98- I/
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE
CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF TAMARAC AND
MEDICS AMBULANCE SERVICES, INC. TO PROVIDE FOR
A DEDICATED UNIT, TEN HOURS PER DAY, SIX DAYS PER
WEEK; PROVIDING FOR COMPENSATION AT THE RATE OF
$14,200 PER MONTH; AND AMENDING THE TERM OF THE
AGREEMENT TO END SEPTEMBER 30, 1998;
AUTHORIZING A BUDGET TRANSFER IN THE AMOUNT OF
$63,900 FROM GENERAL FUND — CONTINGENCY -SPECIAL
PROJECTS TO GENERAL FUND — TRSF-FIRE RESCUE
FUND; AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS
TO AMEND THE FIRE RESCUE FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF
$63,900 AND APPROPRIATE SAID FUNDS INCLUDING ANY
AND ALL SUBSEQUENT BUDGETARY TRANSFERS TO BE
IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROPER ACCOUNTING
PROCEDURES; APPROVING A BUDGET TRANSFER IN THE
AMOUNT OF $63,900 FROM FIRE RESCUE FUND ACCOUNT
— FIRE CONTROL -CONTINGENCIES TO FIRE RESCUE
FUND — OTHER CONTRACTUAL SERVICES -AMBULANCE
SERVICES FOR CORRECT ACCOUNTING PURPOSES;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Medics Ambulance Services, Inc. and the City of Tamarac entered into
an Agreement for supplemental first response and emergency transport services on
October 1, 1996 (Exhibit "'I"); and

WHEREAS, Medics Ambulance Services, Inc. has informed the City of Tamarac
that the existing contract is not economically feasible; and
WHEREAS, both the City of Tamarac and Medics Ambulance Services, Inc. agrees
that Medic's participation in Tamarac's emergency medical system is necessary and
appropriate until September 30, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has determined that a dedicated unit is appropriate ten
hours per day, six days per week; and
WHEREAS, Medics Ambulance Services, Inc. has agreed to provide a dedicated
unit ten hours per day, six days per week at a cost of Fourteen Thousand Two Hundred
($14,200.00) Dollars per month, minus $175 per transport that Medics does; and
WHEREAS, an adjustment is required to amend the estimated revenues and
expenditures found within the present annual Fire Rescue Budget; and
WHEREAS, available funds exist in the General and Fire Rescue Fund budgets for
said purpose; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager, Assistant City Manager/Director of Finance, Fire
Chief and Assistant to City Manager recommend approval of the amendment; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to amend the
agreement between the City of Tamarac and Medics Ambulance Services, Inc.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to execute
an amendment to the Agreement between the City of Tamarac and Medics Ambulance
Services, Inc, a copy of which is attached hereto as "Exhibit 2".
SECTION 3: A budget transfer in the amount of $63,900 from General Fund
account entitled "Contingency -Special Projects" to General Fund account entitled "Trsf-Fire
Rescue Fund" is hereby approved for correct accounting purpose.
SECTION 4: The City Commission authorizes the appropriate City Officials to
amend the Fire Rescue Fund in the amount of $63,900 and appropriate said funds
including any and all subsequent budgetary transfers to be in accordance with proper
accounting procedures.
SECTION 5: A budget transfer in the amount of $63,900 from Fire Rescue Fund
account entitled "Fire Control -Contingencies" to Fire Rescue Fund account entitled "Other
Contractual Services -Ambulance Services" is hereby approved for correct accounting
purposes.
SECTION 6: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 7: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 8: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.

AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF TAMARAC
AND
MEDICS AMBULANCE SERVICES, INC.
The City of Tamarac and Medics Ambulance Services, Inc. agree to amend the
original Agreement dated October 1, 1996 as follows:
Article 3. Term
3.1 The term of this agreement shall be modified to be Janua 1 1998
until September 30 1998 at which time the -agreement will terminate.
Article 4. Scope of Services
4_2 Medics shall provide a dedicated unit for vrovidina First Responder and
Trans ort services in Tamarac for ten 10 consecutive hours beginning at 7:00 a.m.
and ending at 5:00 p.m. eve day except Sunday during the modified term of this
agreement. The Fire Chief may, at his sole discretion modify the begin and end
times for the ten 10 consecutive hours each day. In dedicating this unit Medics
agrees that this unit will meet the Fractile Response Time for First Responder and
Trans ort services as defined in Article 1 of this Agreement for those calls to which it
is dispatched. Medics further agrees to respond with this unit to an and all reguests
for emergencyemeLgency assistance to which it is dispatched in Tamarac unless already
committed to an emergencyeme[gency incident originating in Tamarac.

Article 5. Fees and Charges
5.1 The City agrees to compensate Medics at a rate of fourteen thousand
two hundred dollars ($14,20giper month during the modified term of this Agreement.
However, for eve emergency transl2ort Medics performs relgJive to this Agreement,
the City shall deduct one hundred seventy five dollars 175 from this month)
a ment to Medics. The Cit 's Dayment is due to Medics within thirty 30 days of the
end of every month during the modified term of this Agreement.
5.1 a Medics shall rovide "state run reports" to the City on each and eve
emergencyeme[gengy response it has originating in Tamarac. Reports shall be complete so as
to provide appropriate medical information and indicate whether or not the patient
was transported. Said reports shall be due to the City within ten 10 days and all
incident reports for emergencyeme[gency responses for each given month shall be delivered to
the City within ten 10 calendar days of the end of the month in which they occurred.
Should Medics fail to provide all the re wired incident reports within the -specified time
frame each month then the City shall withhold the monthly gayment until such
reports are rovided and shall have thirty 30 days to make the monthly paymen
from the day on which the re orts are provided.
Article 9. Termination for Default
9.1.6 In the event Medics fails to provide a dedicated unit to respond
according to the requirements of the modified Agreement, the
City shall provide Medics a race eriod for the first eight $

occurrences. Beginning with the ninth (q!"j occurrence the City
shall deduct. three hundred dollars „(1300)„for every dispatched
call in Tamarac during the time that the Medics' dedicated unit is
unavailable. Should Medics fail to provide a dedicated unit
according to the requirements of the modified Agreement more
than sixteen(16) times total during the „modified term, then
Medics shall be in default of this agreement. This provision does
not al?ply if the dedicated unit is unavailable due to emergency
responses within Tamarac by and for the City of Tamarac.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have made and executed this Amendment on
the respective dates under each signature. The City of Tamarac, through its Mayor,
and Medics Ambulance Services, Inc., signing by and through its President, duly
authorized to execute same.
