CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-98- 56'�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, IN
SUPPORT OF THE POMPANO STATE
FARMERS MARKET; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Pompano State Farmers Market is located in Broward County,
Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Pompano State Farmers Market is valuable to the State of Florida
and the residents of Broward County, and supports millions of dollars worth of Florida
agricultural business each year; and
WHEREAS, the Pompano State Farmers Market is an integral part of the supply,
promotion, and distribution of Florida agricultural products in and around Broward County,
the State of Florida, and throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, the tenants of the Pompano State Farmers Market are active
participants in many charitable causes within and around Broward County, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Pompano State Farmers Market is the largest market in the State
of Florida and Broward County, Florida, shipping millions of packages of Florida agricultural

products each year to South Florida retailers and businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Pompano State Farmers Market is the shipping point for the
majority of the Florida agriculture produced in Broward County, Florida; and
WHEREAS, numerous residents of Broward County are directly and indirectly
employed in and around the communities surrounding the Pompano State Farmers Market;
and
WHEREAS, the Pompano State Farmers Market generates millions of dollars of
economic impact throughout the Broward County area; and
WHEREAS, the current facilities of the Pompano State Farmers Market are in need
of renovations or expansion; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida through the legislative budget process may
appropriate funds to improve, expand, and renovate the Pompano State Farmers Market;
and
WHEREAS, certain proposals have been put forth that would either improve the
existing facilities or provide for additional facilities to improve the operation of the Pompano
State Farmers Market; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to support any
proposal regarding renovation of the existing facilities or the addition of new facilities to the

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac supports any
proposal which would renovate the existing facilities or the addition of new facilities to
improve the distribution of agricultural products from the Pompano State Farmers market
to the residents of Broward County, Florida.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this
Resolution to Jack Cory, of Public Affairs Consultants.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid,
in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications
of this Resolution.

SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption. J
