A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE FROM THE TAMARAC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF ADVERTISING SPACE PLACEMENT IN THE TAMARAC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS DIRECTORY IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIFTEEN -THOUSAND FIVE - HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($15,550.00); AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THE TAMARAC BUSINESS/INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT BROCHURE FROM CHAMBER PRESS PLUS FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED EIGHT -THOUSAND SIX -HUNDRED DOLLARS ($8,600.00); AUTHORIZING THE BUDGETARY TRANSFER OF FIFTEEN - THOUSAND FIVE -HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($15,550.00) WITHIN THE GENERAL FUND FOR CORRECT ACCOUNTING PURPOSES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Mayor, City Commission, City Manager and appropriate staff held a series of strategic planning sessions in April 1997; and WHEREAS, during these strategic planning sessions, the Mayor and City Commission identified five (5) major goals to be undertaken during the next one (1) to two (2) years; and 1 March 11, 1998 - Temp. Reso. #8176 2 Revision No. 1 - March 18, 1998 WHEREAS, one (1) of the goals identified is to enhance economic development throughout the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the City Manager appointed an Economic Development Strategic Plan Team; and WHEREAS, the Economic Development Strategic Plan Team formulated nine (9) strategies to address this goal; and WHEREAS, one (1) of the strategies recommends the production of an economic development brochure to assist the City in recruiting business and industries to locate in the City; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has contributed to the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce Business Directory for the past several years; and WHEREAS, the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce Business Directory has proven to be a useful marketing tool for the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the Management and Budget Officer recommends the transfer of Fifteen -Thousand Five -Hundred Fifty Dollars ($15,550.00) from the General Fund account entitled, ""Contingency/Special Projects", to the General Fund account entitled, "Advertising", for the continued funding to the Tamarac Chamber for the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce Business Directory; and WHEREAS, the Community Development staff and the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce staff have worked together to produce the new City of Tamarac 1 March 11, 1998 - Temp. Reso. #8176 3 Revision No. 1 - March 18, 1998 Business/Industry Development Brochure and the updated Tamarac Chamber of Commerce Business Directory; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that engaging the same printer through the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce to produce the brochure and the directory is the most efficient and cost-effective method of printing the documents; and WHEREAS, the Director of Community Development recommends approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to provide for the approval of the Tamarac Business/Industry Development Brochure and Tamarac Chamber of Commerce Business Directory; authorizing the purchase from the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce of advertising space placement in the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce Business Directory in an amount not to exceed Fifteen -Thousand Five -Hundred Fifty Dollars ($15,550.00); authorizing the purchase of the Tamarac Business/Industry Development Brochure from Chamber Press Plus for an amount not to exceed Eight - Thousand Six -Hundred Dollars ($8,600.00); authorizing the budgetary transfer of Fifteen - Thousand Five -Hundred Fifty Dollars ($15,550.00) within the General Fund for correct accounting purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: IJ 1 1 March 11, 1998 - Temp. Reso. #8176 4 Revision No. 1 — March 18, 1998 SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: The purchase from the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce of advertising space placement in the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce Business Directory in an amount not to exceed Fifteen -Thousand Five -Hundred Fifty Dollars ($15,550.00) is hereby approved. SECTION 3: The production and purchase of the Tamarac Business/Industry Development Brochure from Chamber Press Plus in an amount not to exceed Eight - Thousand Six -Hundred Dollars ($8,600.00) is hereby approved. SECTION 4: A Budget Transfer in the amount of Fifteen -Thousand Five - Hundred Fifty Dollars ($15,550.00) within the General Fund for correct accounting purposes is hereby approved. SECTION 5: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
