RESOLUTION NO. R-96-

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING A WAIVER TO THE SIGN
CODE ORDINANCE REQUESTED BY ART SIGN COMPANY TO
ERECT A COMBINATION MONUMENT, DIRECTORY AND
CHANGEABLE COPY SIGN FOR TAMARAC MARKETPLACE
LOCATED AT THE SOUTH WEST CORNER OF MCNAB ROAD
AND NOB HILL ROAD A MINIMUM 10 FEET FROM THE PUBLIC
RIGHT-OF-WAY. SIGN TO BE 13 FEET IN HEIGHT BY 12 FEET IN
WIDTH WITH TOTAL SIGN AREA OF 96 SQUARE FEET. SIGN
WILL HAVE TWO LETTER STYLES OF "SCRIPT" AND
"HELVETICA BOLD", MAJOR TENANT DIRECTORY SPACES OF
8 FEET IN WIDTH WITH LETTER HEIGHTS OF 12 INCHES, WITH
A DIRECTORY AREA OF 32 SQUARE FEET. SAID SIGN WILL
INCORPORATE A CHANGEABLE COPY SECTION FOR MULTIPLE
SCREEN THEATERS; PROVIDING FOR CONDITIONS OF
APPROVAL; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE QATE.
WHEREAS, Art Sign Company has requested a waiver from Code Chapter 18
governing signs to erect a combination monument, directory and changeable copy sign
for Tamarac Marketplace located at the south west corner of McNab Road and Nob Hill
Road , said sign to be 13 feet in height by 12 feet in width with total sign area of 132
square feet. Sign will have two letter styles of "Script" and "Helvetica Bold", major
tenant directory spaces of 8 square feet with letter heights of 12 inches, with a directory
area of 32 square feet. Said sign will incorporate a changeable copy section for
multiple screen theaters and will be located a minimum of 10 feet from the public right-
of-way; and
WHEREAS, the Building Official, reviewed said waiver and recommends
approval to erect a combination monument, directory and changeable copy sign with 13
feet in height and 12 feet in width with total sign area of 132 square feet in two letter
styles with major tenant directory spaces of 8 square feet and letter heights of 12
inches with a directory area of 32 square feet located a minimum of 10 feet from the
public right-of-way; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida has the
authority pursuant to the Code Section 18-42 to grant waivers; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to grant this
waiver.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing WHEREAS clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of the
Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the waiver to the Sign Code Chapter 18 requested by Art Sign
Company to erect a combination monument, directory and changeable copy sign for
Tamarac Marketplace located at the south west corner of McNab Road and Nob Hill
Road with 13 feet in height and 12 feet in width with total sign area of 132 square feet in
two letter styles with major tenant directory spaces of 8 square feet and letter heights of
12 inches with a directory area of 32 square feet located a minimum of 10 feet from the
public right-of-way; is HEREBY APPROVED.
SECTION 3: Conditions of approval: NoNe.
All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.

SECTION 6; This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
