CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-96- a I
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING SHARON MACHEK AS THE
VICE -MAYOR OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. _..
WHEREAS, Section 4.03 of the Tamarac Charter provides that, each year, as soon as
possible after the new commissioners have taken office, a majority of the commission members
shall elect a vice -mayor; and
WHEREAS, the City Charter provides that the Vice -Mayor shall serve as acting Mayor
in the absence or disability of the Mayor with all powers and duties of the Mayor and that in the
event of a vice -mayoral vacancy, a majority of the Commission shall elect a new Vice -Mayor;
and
WHEREAS, there is currently a vacancy in the office of Vice -Mayor; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac City Commission deems it to be in the best interest of the
citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint a new Vice -Mayor for the City of
Tamarac.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed
as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That Sharon Machek is hereby appointed as the Vice -Mayor of the City
of Tamarac.

SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
