CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-96- 2-3 0
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RECOGNIZING FLORIDA CITY
GOVERNMENT WEEK, OCTOBER 20-26, 1996, AND
ENCOURAGING ALL CITIZENS TO SUPPORT THE
CELEBRATION AND CORRESPONDING ACTIVITIES;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to develop an
awareness of city government; and
WHEREAS, city government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one
with the most direct daily impact upon its residents; and
WHEREAS, city government is administered for and by its citizens, and is
dependent upon public commitment to and understanding of its many responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, Florida City Government Week is a very important time to recognize
the important role played by city government in our lives; and
WHEREAS, the week offers an important opportunity to spread the word to all the
citizens of Florida that they can shape and influence this level of government which is
closest to the people; and
WHEREAS, the Governor and Cabinet of the State of Florida have set aside this
week to recognize and honor the efforts of city governments; and

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1s That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac hereby declares the
week of October 20-26, 1996 as "Florida City Government Week".
SECTION 3: That the City of Tamarac encourages all citizens, city government
officials and city employees to do everything possible to ensure that October 20-26, 1996
Florida City Government Week is recognized and celebrated accordingly.
SECTION 4: That the City of Tamarac encouraged educational partnerships
between city government and schools.
SECTION 5, That the City of Tamarac supports and encourages all city
governments to actively promote and sponsor "Florida City Government Week".
SECTION 6: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 7: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 8: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
