R-96- -3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION SENT TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION REQUESTING GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $140,000 WITH A CITY CASH MATCH OF $25,000 AND AN IN -KIND MATCH OF $15,000 FOR A TOTAL PROJECT COST OF $180,000 TO PROVIDE RETROFITTING OF THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM SERVING SOUTHGATE BOULEVARD; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING_F_OR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to reduce the pollutant discharges into the C-14 Canal; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to enhance the water quality from the C-14 Canal with reduced debris and sand flooding from the developed areas; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to provide retrofitting of the storm drainage system serving Southgate Boulevard and the abutting residential and commercial developments; and WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection provides matching grant funds for environmental restoration, enhancement and protection activities; and I Temp. Reso. 7296 Revised 12/18/95 WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac is willing to match the grant request of $140,000 with $25,000 cash match and a $15,000 in -kind match for a total project cost of $180,000; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac's match of $25,000 will come from account number 001-872-519-830, titled Grants -Matching Funds, and in -kind services valued at $15,000 will come from the Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, the Stormwater Engineer, Public Works Director, Grants Coordinator, Budget Administrator and Finance Director recommend approval. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the Florida Department of Environmental Protection grant application of $140,000 with a cash match of $25,000 and a $15,000 in -kind match for a total project cost of $180,000 to provide retrofitting of the storm drainage system serving Southgate Boulevard. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SFCTIQN 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and is hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION The City Commission approves the application sent to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection requesting $140,000 in grant funds for Southgate Boulevard Drainage Improvements. S_ECTIQN 3. The City Commission approves the $25,000 cash match with funding provided from account number 001-872-519-830, titled Grants -Matching Funds, and the $15,000 in -kind match for services provided by the Public Works Department. SEQTIONUpon approval of the grant received from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, a resolution accepting the grant will be proposed at that time. S_ECTIQN 5: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. 1 Temp. Reso. 7296 Revised 12/18/95 SECTION 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
