R-96- 3( A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA OPPOSING ANY STATE LEGISLATION THAT WOULD HINDER OR NEGATIVELY AFFECT THE DAY -CRUISE INDUSTRY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFEQIIYE DATE. WHEREAS, the day -cruise industry is an important and valuable industry in Broward County; and WHEREAS, the day -cruise industry spends a significant amount of money operating day -cruise businesses in Broward County; and WHEREAS, hundreds of Broward County residents are employed within the day - cruise industry; and WHEREAS, the day -cruise industry generates economic activity in Broward County and the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, legislation has been proposed by the Florida Legislature that could hinder or negatively affect the day -cruise industry; and WHEREAS, the Broward Legislative Delegation and the Broward County League of Cities have requested all Broward municipalities to oppose state regulation that could hinder or negatively affect the day -cruise industry. 2 Temp. Reso. #7341 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the City of Tamarac opposes any and all state legislation that would hinder or negatively affect the day -cruise industry. SECTION I That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to send copies of this resolution to the Governor, the Florida League of Cities, the Broward Legislative Delegation and the Broward League of Cities. SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 6- If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
