RESOLUTION NO. R-96- q
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA; AWARDING THE PURCHASE OF
OFFICE FURNITURE FROM THOMAS W. RUFF & CO.
BASED ON STATE CONTRACT #425-001-95-1 AND
BROWARD COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD BID #95-004H, AT A
TOTAL COST NOT TO EXCEED $15,267.00; FUNDING IN
THE AMOUNT OF $14,699.50 IS BUDGETED UNDER
ACCOUNT# 001-223-522-515 ENTITLED, "EQUIPMENT
MINOR", WITH ADDITIONAL FUNDING COMING FROM
ACCOUNT# 001-223-522-642 ENTITLED,"OFFICE
FURNITURE";PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
Whereas, the fire department needs to replace the existing office furniture; and
Whereas, the Thomas W. Ruff & Co. has offered to extend the applicable terms
and conditions of the State contract and the bid awarded by The Broward County
School Board to the City of Tamarac (attached as Exhibit "A"); and
Whereas, the total cost will be $15,267.00 and is funded under Account No.
001-223-522-515 entitled "Equipment Minor" in the amount of $14,699.50 with
additional funding coming from Account No. 001-223-522-642 entitled "Office Furniture"
in the amount of $567.50; and
Whereas, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the Purchasing Officer
that this purchase be awarded to Thomas W. Ruff & Co.; and

Whereas, City Code §6-154 allows the Purchasing Officer to join with other units
of Government in cooperative purchasing when the best interest of the City will be
served; and
Whereas, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the best
interest of the City of Tamarac to authorize the purchase of office furniture.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
resolution.
SECTION 2: That Thomas W. Ruff & Co. is awarded the purchase of office
furniture based on State Contract and the Contract with the Broward County School

SECTION 3: That the total cost will not exceed $15,267.00 and $14,699.50 will
come from account 001-223-522-515 entitled "Minor Equipment" with an additional
$567.50 coming from account 001-223-522-642 entitled "Office Furniture."
SECTION 4: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not effect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.

acceptance is subject to your company's compliance with the Bid's specifications, terms

As per Bid Special Condition 9, your company must furnish a copy of these

The S8BC is NOT obligated to place any order with any successful bidder in this bid.
However, till schools and departments requesting furniture not available in the School

inthe county as needed and each shipment is to be FOB destination specified on the
purchase order. The prices applicable to any purchase order are those that were in effect on
the dote of issuance of the purchase order,
