CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-96414
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING AND
COMMEMORATING THE WEEK OF APRIL 22, 1996 AS
"PROFESSIONAL SECRETARIES WEEK"; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDINGQ FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATL
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is proud to pause on April 24, 1996 to recognize
those who serve as professional secretaries in our organization; and
WHEREAS, according to the Professional Secretaries International, there are
approximately four million individuals working as secretaries in the United States and
Canada; and
WHEREAS, as the professional secretary ranks increase, so do the range of their
responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, today's professional secretary, executive secretary, and executive
assistant and all other staff who acts in this capacity, operates personal computers, trains
and supervises other employees, makes purchasing decisions as well as a multitude of
other decisions involving the life of the organization and provides advice on many subjects;
and
WHEREAS, their contributions are as many and varied as they are; and
WHEREAS, during the week of April 22 and on April 24, 1996, in particular, in honor
of Professional Secretaries, we take this opportunity to thank these indispensable

professionals; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to proudly declare
the week of April 22, 1996, as "Professional Secretaries Week".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION,. 2: That the week of April 22, 1996 shall be declared "Professional
Secretaries Week" within the City of Tamarac and the entire organization is urged to join
in the celebration of this historical observance.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
