RESOLUTION NO. R-95- l o2-7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA; AWARDING THE PURCHASE OF
SCOTT 4.5 SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS
FROM SAFETY EQUIPMENT COMPANY, A SOLE SOURCE,
AT A TOTAL COST OF $18,220.20; FUNDING FROM THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Scott is the manufacturer of current self-contained breathing
apparatus used by the city; and
WHEREAS, Safety Equipment Company is the only authorized Scott sales and
repair facility in Florida; and
and
WHEREAS, the Scott 4.5 model is five pounds lighter than the Scott 2.2 model;
WHEREAS, the Scott 4.5 model is compatible with the Scott 2.2 model for
emergency buddy breathing; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of purchasing six complete sets with six extra bottles is
eighteen thousand two hundred twenty dollars and twenty cents ($18,220.20); and
WHEREAS, these funds are budgeted under the fire department; and

WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the Purchasing
Officer that this purchase be awarded to Safety Equipment Company of America; and
WHEREAS, City Code §6-151 allows the purchasing of noncompetitive supplies
available from only one source when the best interest of the City will be served; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interest of the City of Tamarac to authorize the purchase of self-contained
breathing apparatus from Safety Equipment Company.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
N 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
resolution.
SECTION 2: Safety Equipment Company is awarded the purchace of Scott 4.5
Breathing Apparatus.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTI„QN 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not effect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
:SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
