CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-95-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO PURCHASE WATER
ISOLATION VALVES UTILIZING THE CITY OF FT.
LAUDERDALE'S BID/ NUMBER 242-6768 FROM U.S. PIPE
AND FOUNDRY COMPANY AT A MAXIMUM TOTAL COST
OF $15,000; APPROVING FUNDING FROM ACCOUNT
NUMBER 425-888-533-67C, ENTITLED "WATER VALVE
REPLACEMENT PROGRAM." PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Utilities Department seeks to install isolation valves used to shut
down water mains for emergency repairs and routine maintenance operations; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission approved funding for this project in the FY96
budget in Account Number 425-888-533-67C, entitled "Water Valve Replacement
Program"; and
WHEREAS, City of Fort Lauderdale Bid Number 242-6768, awarded to U.S. Pipe
and Foundry Company contains approved items such as hydrants, check and gate valves,
suitable for use by the City of Tamarac in its distribution system to achieve isolation and
control of water lines; and
WHEREAS, U.S. Pipe and Foundry allows the City of Tamarac to utilize the City of
Fort Lauderdale Bid Number 242-6768; and

WHEREAS, City Code Section 6-154 allows the Purchasing Officer the authority to
join with other units of government in cooperative purchasing when the best interests of
the City would be served; and
WHEREAS, the Utilities Director recommends the purchase of isolation valves from
U.S. Pipe and Foundry Company; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the
purchase of isolation water valves from U.S. Pipe and Foundry Company.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution.
SECTION : The purchase of water isolation valves at a cost of $15,000, is
here by approved to be purchased from U.S. Pipe and Foundry Company.
SECTION 3: Funding for the purchase is budgeted at a maximum total cost
of $15,000 from account number 425-888-533-67C, entitled " Water Valve Replacement."
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any Court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid,
in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining partitions or application
of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
