A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY
TO BROWARD COUNTY FOR A GRANT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $69,500 WITH A CITY MATCH OF
$23,000 FOR A TOTAL PROJECT COST OF
$92,500 FOR A FITNESS COURSE AT TAMARAC
PARK; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING -FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to provide
enhanced outdoor recreation opportunities for its residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to provide a state
of the art fitness trail at Tamarac Park using a rubberized surface which is made from
recycled tires from Broward County; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac is willing to match the grant
request of $69,500 with $23,000 local funds for a total project cost of $92,500; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Operations Manager recommends approval
of this request; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department will be able to provide annual
maintenance without hiring additional staff; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac's match of $23,000 will come from account
number 001-872-519-830, titled Grants -Matching Funds.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to have enhanced
recreation facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE

CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and is hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Manager is authorized to apply for grant funds in the
amount of $69,500 from the Broward County Office of Integrated Waste Management.
.$ CTION 3: Upon approval of the grant received from the Broward County
Office of Integrated Waste Management a resolution accepting the grant will be proposed
at that time.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6- This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
