CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-95-_jg7&
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY
OFFICIALS TO APPROVE A 9% INCREASE IN
THE RATE THE CITY PAYS FOR LIFE
INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE CITY OF
TAMARAC EMPLOYEES; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDIN-G..EQB AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS, the life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage
was awarded to Metropolitan Life Insurance Company effective December 1, 1990
through a competitive bid process; and
WHEREAS, the rates for life insurance has increased this renewal period; and
WHEREAS, the rates for accidental death and dismemberment coverage will
remain the same this renewal period; and
WHEREAS, the life insurance rates paid by the City increased from $.33 per month
to $.36 per month per $1,000 of life insurance coverage effective December 1, 1995; and
WHEREAS, the annual increase to the City will be approximately $3,600 based on
the current life insurance in force of $6,944,000 on employees;
WHEREAS, there will be no change on the $.05 per month per $1,000 rate the City

pays for accidental death and dismemberment coverage, nor will there be any change in
the various rates that retirees pay for accidental death and dismemberment coverage
which are based on age.
WHEREAS, the Risk Manager recommends approval of the life insurance rate for
employees life insurance coverage effective December 1, 1995; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the
citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to provide low cost life insurance and
accidental death and dismemberment benefits for City employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed
as being true and correct and hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
-$EQTION 2: That the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to approve
a 9% increase in the monthly rate the City pays for life insurance coverage for City of
Tamarac employees. The monthly rate shall be increased for $.33 to $.36 per $1,000 of
coverage effective December 1, 1995.
SECTION 3: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION A: If any clause, section, or other part of application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part
or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or application of this
Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
