RESOLUTION NO. R-95--(,,-Ig
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
ACCEPTING THE HIATUS ROAD CORRIDOR
STUDY PREPARED BY CARR SMITH
ASSOCIATES DATED FEBRUARY 6, 1995
AND APPROVING THE RECOMMENDED
RIGHT-OF-WAY OPTION KNOWN AS
ALIGNMENT OPTION 1 AS ILLUSTRATED AS
EXHIBIT "A" OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is proper to utilize public funds for public purposes; and
WHEREAS, Land Section 7 in the City of Tamarac is currently undeveloped except
for the Tamarac Market Place and the City's Utilities Administration Complex; and
WHEREAS, the City plans to encourage the economic development of this area by
facilitating the construction of roads and other infrastructure to support light industrial
development; and
WHEREAS, the City has contracted with Carr Smith Associates to provide options
and a recommendation for the future location of the extension of Hiatus Road from
Commercial Boulevard to McNab Road to provide access to the area; and
WHEREAS, Carr Smith Associates has completed the Hiatus Road Corridor Study
which includes three (3) options and recommends the adoption of Alignment Option 1

(attached herewith as Exhibit "A"); and
WHEREAS, the recommendation of Alignment Option 1 requires the lowest capital
expenditure of the three (3) identified options; and
WHEREAS, Alignment Option 1 provides a favorable and reasonably equitable
solution to dedications required by property owners; and
WHEREAS, the Alignment Option 1 for the Hiatus Road Extension includes a 4-lane
divided highway with a median, outside curb and gutter design within a 106 ft. right-of-way;
and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works, City Engineer, Director of Community
Development and the City Manager recommend that the Commission approve Alignment
Option 1.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the
recommendation included in the Hiatus Road Corridor Study and staff recommendations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECIIQN 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and is hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The Hiatus, Road Corridor Study prepared by Carr Smith

Associates and dated February 6, 1995 is hereby accepted.
SECTION 3. The extension of Hiatus Road north from Commercial Boulevard
north to McNab Road as shown as Alignment Option 1 in the Study is hereby approved.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
