CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-94- //D
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE PUBLIC
SERVICE COMMISSION TO DIRECT THE TELEPHONE
COMPANY TO INITIATE APPROPRIATE CALLING
USAGE STUDIES IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH EXTENSIVE
AREA SERVICE BETWEEN THE CORAL SPRINGS
EXCHANGE AND THE HOLLYWOOD, NORTH DADE,
MIAMI, PERRINE AND HOMESTEAD EXCHANGES;
BETWEEN THE POMPANO EXCHANGE AND THE
HOLLYWOOD, NORTH DADE, MIAMI, PERRINE AND
HOMESTEAD EXCHANGES; BETWEEN THE FORT
LAUDERDALE EXCHANGE AND THE PERRINE AND
HOMESTEAD EXCHANGES; AND BETWEEN THE
HOLLYWOOD EXCHANGE AND THE PERRINE AND
HOMESTEAD EXCHANGES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Broward County and Dade County have grown dramatically
in recent years; and
WHEREAS, a significant amount of growth is attributable to the
migration of businesses and families between Broward County and Dade
County; and
WHEREAS, the businesses and families located in Broward County
and those located in Dade County share common interests, and therefore
share the need for economical methods of communication between the two

counties; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Public Service Commission has authorized a
flat rate extended area calling service between certain, but not all,
exchanges located
in Broward
County
and
Dade County,
and fairness
demands that other
exchanges
not so
served
be afforded
extended area
service as well; and
WHEREAS, Section 25-4.059 of the Florida Administrative Code
permits the Board
of County Commissioners
of Broward
County
to
request
the Public Service
Commission to direct the
telephone
company
to
initiate
studies to determine whether to extend the areas of telephone service in
order to accommodate the increasing need for economical communication
between Broward County and Dade County; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the
City of Tamarac that Broward County intends to adopt a Resolution to the
Public Service Commission to initiate the appropriate calling usage
studies pursuant to the aforesaid Florida Administrative Code Section
which the Council supports and endorses pursuant to this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION -t
The foregoing
"WHEREAS" clauses are
hereby
ratified and confirmed
as being true
and correct and are hereby
made a
specific part of this resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Tamarac requests

the Public Service Commission to direct the telephone company to initiate
appropriate calling usage studies in order to establish extended area
service as follows:
a. between the Coral Springs exchange and the Hollywood, North
Dade, Miami, Perrine and Homestead exchanges;
b. between the Deerfield exchange and the Hollywood, North Dade,
Miami, Perrine and Homestead exchanges;
C. between the Pompano exchange and the Hollywood, North Dade,
Miami, Perrine, and Homestead exchanges;
d. between the Fort Lauderdale exchange and the Perrine and
Homestead exchanges; and
e. between the Hollywood exchange and the Perrine and
Homestead exchanges.
aECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Tamarac further
encourages and requests other cities, through their City Councils and City
Commissions, to adopt similar resolutions supporting the Board of County
Commissioners of Broward County in their request to the Public Service
Commission to initiate appropriate calling usage studies as described
herein and to further request the Public Service Commission to act upon
the calling usage studies in order to establish extended area service as
described in this Resolution.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5;
If
any
clause, section, other part or application
of
this Resolution is
held
by
any court of competent jurisdiction to
be
unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
