CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-94-_1„.'Tf
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
JOINT RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE BROWARD
COUNTY LEAGUE OF CITIES AND THE BROWARD
COUNTY BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION TRADES
COUNCIL REGARDING PROPER LICENSING OF ALL
CONTRACTORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a Joint Resolution was approved by both the
Broward County League
of Cities
and the Broward County Building
and
Construction Trades
Council
regarding proper licensing of
all

contractors and subcontractors; and
WHEREAS, through licensing, the consumer is assured of a level
of experience and knowledge and a minimum level of insurance
required by the subcontractor; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Building Official recommends that the City
Council endorse this Resolution ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida,
deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of
the City of Tamarac to support the Broward County League of Cities
and she Broward County Building and Construction Trade Council
regarding proper licensing of all contractors and subcontractors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby
ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made
a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
hereby supports the Broward County League of Cities and the Broward
County Building and Construction Trades Council in their concern
regarding the proper construction of all residential, commercial,
private and public buildings in Broward County.
SECTION 3: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
supports all contractors or subcontractors being appropriately licensed
by the State, County or City during construction, remodeling or repairs,
whether public or private.
SECTION 4: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
endorses that severe penalties should be created and enforced to insure
said performance and compliance.
SECTION_ -. That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
supports the County Commission action to change current ordinances to
bring about revenue sharing with cities which choose to enforce the
ordinance through the Central Examining Board.
SECTION 6: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
supports involvement, through the City Managers and Chief Building
Officials, to utilize both City and County personnel as Code
Enforcement Officers.

SECTION 7: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
favors amending Florida Statutes 489.117(2) to make this applicable
portion subordinate to any local construction licensing ordinance which
licenses specialty contractors and which ordinances have been
determined to be adequate pursuant to Florida Statute 489.1 17(2).
SEE 'T, IQN 1L. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
E TI N If any clause, section, or other part or
application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent
jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application,
it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or
applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 10: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon adoption. la ,
