CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-94-184
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE REDUCTION OF THE
AMOUNT CONTRIBUTED BY THE CITY AND
BY ITS' EMPLOYEES BY 8% FOR HMO
COVERAGE AND 13% FOR PPO COVERAGE
IN CONJUNCTION WITH HUMANA HEALTH
PLAN RATE REDUCTIONS EFFECTIVE
NOVEMBER 1, 1994; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the
best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the
reduction of the amount contributed by the City and by its' employees by 8% for HMO
coverage and 13% for PPO coverage in conjunction with Humana Health Plan rate
reductions effective November 1, 1994.
WHEREAS, the rate reductions will result in annual estimated savings of
$59,000.00 to the City and $19,000.00 to City employees.
WHEREAS, the proposed HMO rates are 8% lower than they were 2 years ago
and the PPO rates are 9% lower than they were 2 years ago when Humana was selected
under the competitive bid process.
WHEREAS, the Risk Manager recommends approval of the reduction of the
amount contributed by the City and by its' employees by 8% for HMO coverage and 13%
for PPO coverage in conjunction with Humana Health Plan rate reductions effective
November 1, 1994.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution.
SECTION 2: That the appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to approve the
reduction of the amount contributed by the City and by its' employees by 8% for HMO
coverage and 13% for PPO coverage in conjunction with Humana Health Plan rate
reductions effective November 1, 1994.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by
any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application,
it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
