CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-94-2YO
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
APPROVING A 13% REDUCTION IN THE
RATE THE CITY PAYS FOR LIFE INSURANCE
COVERAGE FOR CITY OF TAMARAC
EMPLOYEES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, -
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the
citizens and residents of the City to provide low cost life insurance and accidental death
dismemberment benefits for City employees.
WHEREAS, the life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage
was awarded to Metropolitan Life Insurance Company effective December 1, 1990 through
a competitive bid process.
WHEREAS, the rates for life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment
coverage have not changed since December 1, 1990.
WHEREAS, the Risk Manager has negotiated a reduction in the rate paid by the
City from $. 38 per month to $ .33 per month per $1000 of life insurance coverage
effective December 1, 1994.
WHEREAS, the annual savings to the City from the rate reduction will be $4,000
based on the current life insurance in force of $6,665,000 on employees.

WHEREAS, there will be no change on the $ .05 per month per $1000 rate the City
pays for accidental death and dismemberment coverage nor will there be any change in
the various rates that retirees pay for life or accidental death and dismemberment coverage
which are based on age.
WHEREAS, the Risk Manager recommends approval of the life insurance rate for
employees life insurance coverage effective December 1, 1994.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission of the City of Tamarac, approves a 13% reduction in
the monthly rate the City pays for life insurance coverage for City of Tamarac employees.
The monthly rate shall be reduced from $.38 to $.33 per $1,000 of coverage effective
December 1, 1994.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed
to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by
any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application,
it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTIQN 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
