CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-93- y C6
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RECOMMENDING AND URGING
THE IMPROVEMENT AND WIDENING OF STATE ROAD 7
FROM CLINT MOORE ROAD TO OKEECHOBEE BOULEVARD
IN PALM BEACH COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida
deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents
of the City of Tamarac to improve and widen State Road 7, from
Clint Moore Road to Okeechobee Boulevard in Palm Beach County; and
WHEREAS, State Road 7, from Clint Moore Road to Okeechobee
Boulevard in Palm Beach County is a deficient, poor quality road;
and
WHEREAS, State Road 7 has a consistently high accident rate,
with a fatality accident occurring every sixty-six (66) days in
this stretch of. State Road 7; and
WHEREAS, State Road 7 has the worst accident rate, as
established by an independent accident analysis, of any unfunded
state road located in Palm Beach County; and
WHEREAS, State Road 7 has the highest accident/fatality rate
of any road on the Metropolitan Planning Organization Unfunded
Priority List; and
WHEREAS, State Road 7 from Clint Moore Road to Okeechobee
Boulevard has been placed on the Metropolitan Planning
Organization Unfunded Priority List as number one priority; and
WHEREAS, State Road 7, in the event of a hurricane or other
natural disaster, is critical to the evacuation of residents from
South Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
351 ,SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are
hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are

,hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2_ That the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
Florida, asserts that it is imperative for the safety and welfare
of the citizens and business community of South Florida, that
funding be acquired for the improvement and widening to State Road
7 from Clint Moore Road to Okeechobee Boulevard, to alleviate the
traffic and safety concerns in this area and to provide for
sufficient traffic flow for evacuation in the event of a hurricane
or other natural disaster.
,SECTION 3: The City Manager is directed to distribute
this Resolution as necessary to inform all pertinent parties as to
the City of Tamarac's position.
SECTION_ : All resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION_ : if any clause, section, other part or
application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent
jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.
