CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-93--70
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM
THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL
RESOURCES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN EQUIPPED
PLAY AREA, TOT LOT AND PICNIC AREA AT THE
TAMARAC SPORTS COMPLEX IN THE AMOUNT OF
$50,000.00; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERA$ILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida
deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents
of the City of Tamarac by preparing a grant application for the
development of an Equipped Play Area, Tot Lot- and Picnic Area
facility under the Florida Recreation Development Assistance
Program; and
WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the program that this
Resolution be adopted and become an official part of the
application; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is authirized to submit an
application requesting $50,000 in financial assistance from the
Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program for an equipped
play area facility; and
WHEREAS, the parcel of land available consists of
approximately seven acres of land that is owned by the City of
Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has an officially adopted local
comprehensive plan, including a recreation and open space element,
pursuant to the Local Government Comprehensive Planning Act, and
all segments of the public were offered an opportunity to
participate in the planning process leading to the adoption of
this document;.and

WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has an on -going program of
public participation which encourages involvement by all segments
of the population within its jurisdiction, including minority and
disadvantaged citizens in the planning for a selection of
recreation projects; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is in a fiscally and legally
responsible position to satisfactorily develop, operate and
maintain the project site in accordance with the program
requirements; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the grant project is expected to
be $50,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Assistant City Manager, Dina M. McDermott, is
designated as the official liaison agent and City'Manager, John P.
Kelly, is authorized to accept the grant and execute all
appropriate documents and contracts for the purpose of
administrating the grant; and
WHEREAS, in 1991 the Florida Recreation Development Program
(FRDAP) Grants Committee review this project and ranked it 9 out
of 28; and
WHEREAS, the FRDAP Program depleted their "no -match required
funding" account and could not adequately fund this project; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac City Council authorizes the City Manager
to reapply for "no -match required funding" to request funds to
develop a play area at the Tamarac Sports Complex.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION.1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are
hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are
hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION That the administration is hereby authorized
to apply for financial assistance in the amount of $50,000.00 from
the State of Florida of Natural Resources, for the development of

an equipped play area, tot lot and picnic area at the Tamarac
Sports Complex.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
,SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or
application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent
jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption. \I
