RESOLUTION NO. R-92- �
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TAMARAC'S
PARTICIPATION IN A GOVERNMENTAL
COOPERATIVE PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH THE
CORAL SPRINGS CO-OP GROUP TO PURCHASE
THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT'S YEARLY
REQUIREMENT OF QUICKLIME FOR WATER
TREATMENT AND SOFTENING; BID NO.91-083F;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the appropriate City officials are
hereby authorized to participate in a Governmental cooperative
purchase agreement with the Coral Springs CO-OP Group to
purchase the Water Treatment Plant's yearly requirement of
quicklime for water treatment and softening under Bid No.91--
083F. The low bid price is $80.38 per ton delivered with an
estimated usage of 1500 tons of lime at a total cost of
$120,570.00.
SECTION 2: This resolution shall become effective
immediately upon adoption.

The City of Coral Springs has an ongoing need for quicklime in
the daily operation of the Water Treatment Facility. At this
time, we are currently filling this need by utilizing the City of
. Hollywood's bid #3055. This quicklime is supplied by Dravo Lime
Company, as was approved by the City commission on September 16,
1991, item 041.
The utilization of this bid was for an interim period pending
award of the Cooperative Bid #91-083F, which was initiated by the
City of Coral Springs for the Broward Governmental Cooperative
Purchasing Group. This Co-op Bid was opened on October 9, 1991,
with the following results:
• Eleven (11) vendors were r�ontacted;
• Four (4) vendors responded;
• One (1) response was a no bid;

• There are no Coral Springs vendors for this commodity.
The lowest bidder is Allied Lime Company of Birmingham, Alabama,
with a price of $80.38 per ton delivered to all the participating
entities. Under the Hollywood contract we
year. were paying $81.37,
per tan which constitute a saving of $ .99 per tan or $2,574.00 a
Allied Lime Company has executed the agreement drafted by the
City Attorneys office and has provided a Certificate of
Insurance acceptable to the Risk Manager.
It is recommended that Bid 191--083F, Quicklime, be awarded to the
low responsive/responsible bidder, Allied Lime Company, for a
period of one (1) year from date of award in the estimated annual
amount of $170,000.
