CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-85--,Z_ir2
A RESOLUTION URGING ALL LOCAL TV STATIONS TO
AIR THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES PUBLIC
SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ON DRUNK DRIVING; AND
PROVIDI_NG_A
WHEREAS, drinking and driving is one of the most criti-
cal social dilemmas facing America today; and
WHEREAS, driving fatalities relating to alcohol have
escalated to an all time high and involve thousands of
victims each year; and
WHEREAS, the Florida League of Cities and the City of
Tamarac share the national concern about drinking and driving
and recognize the significant impact that the problem car-
ries in the municipalities of our State; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Cable Television Association and
the Florida League of Cities have co -produced a video public
service announcement concerning the problem of drunk driving;
and
WHEREAS, all cable systems throughout the state with
local advertising.capabilities have received a copy of the
public service announcement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION_1: That all local television stations are urged
to broadcast the public service announcement produced by the
Florida League of Cities and the Florida Cable Television
Association as broadcast time allows.
SEQTION__2.: That the City Clerk is authorized and
directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the General
Manager of the following television stations: WTVJ Channel 4
Television Station, 316 North Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida
33128; WCIX Channel 61 1111 Brickell Avenue, Miami, Florida
33131; WSVN Channel 7 of Broward County, 1401 North Bay
Causeway, Miami, Florida 33141; and Channel Ten-WPLG TV, 3900
Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida 33317.
SECTjQ_N__3: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon passage. y
