CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-85-aZ_,:��
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPOINT
A TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN
ANTICIPATION OF THE TEMPORARY ABSENCE OF, THE
MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFE A
WHEREAS, Section 4.03 of the Tamarac City Charter pro-
vides that the Vice -Mayor shall serve as acting Mayor in the
absence of the Mayor; and
WHEREAS, Section 4.05(e) of the Tamarac City Charter
provides that in the absence of both the Mayor and Vice -
Mayor, a Temporary Chairman for any council meeting may be
designated by three (3) councilmembers; and
WHEREAS, Section 4.06(b) provides that the council shall
determine its own rules and order of business.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
5. CTj,QN _ l : That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
hereby authorizes the Mayor to appoint a Temporary Chairman
of the City Council, pursuant to Section 4.05(e) of the
Tamarac City Charter, in anticipation of any temporary
absence of the Mayor and Vice -Mayor. The appointment shall
be in writing and filed with the City Clerk.
SECTION 2: That the Temporary Chairman appointed by the
Mayor shall have all the powers of the Mayor necessary to
ensure the proper functioning of the city government and
administration during the absence of the Mayor and Vice
Mayor. Upon the return of the Mayor or Vice -Mayor to the
City from their temporary absences, the duties of the
Temporary Chairman shall end.
UMON .,�: The designation of a temporary chairman
shall not affect the compensation and expenses of the Mayor
and councilmembers as provided for in Section 4.04 of the
Tamarac City charter.

SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon passage.
