CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-85-307
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING THE FIRE CHIEF OR HIS
DESIGNEE AND THE CITY MANAGER AS THE PERSONS
IN CHARGE OF CITY BUILDINGS FOR THE PURPOSE
OF IMPLEMENTING THE FLORIDA CLEAN INDOOR AIR
ACT; A IDINC, -AN _ EFFECTIVE .._.
WHEREAS, the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act, (Session Law
85-257), effective October 1, 1985, applies to City owned
buildings; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City Manager is
best able to coordinate the planning and implementation of a
smoking policy as it affects City employees and members of
the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
5U_UQN_1: That the Fire Chief or his designee and the
City Manager are hereby designated as the persons in charge
of all City owned buildings for the purpose of implementing
the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act.
SZQTION-_2: The City Manager shall formulate and
implement a smoking policy for City owned buildings, as soon
as possible from the effective date of this Resolution. Said
policy shall conform to the fullest extent with the Florida
Clean Indoor Air Act, but necessitate the least possible
disruption of City activity or the employees' workplace.
SECTION: Any person who violates the policy imple-
mented by the City Manager shall be subject to the penalties
set forth .in Section 8 of the Act, namely a fine of not more
than $100 for the first violation and not more than $500 for
each subsequent violation as may be determined by the County
Court. Violation by any City employee shall constitute
grounds for disciplinary action against that employee by the
City.

tation.
SECT QN 5: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.
