CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-85-,�
A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE CITY'S SCHOOL
CROSSING GUARD PROGRAM; REQUESTING THE NEWLY
ENACTED $4 SURCHARGE FUNDS FOR ITS CROSSING
GUARD PROGRAM THE EXPENDITURE OF SUCH FUNDS
TO BE RESTRICTED TO THAT PURPOSE; AND

WHEREAS, a recent amendment to Florida Statutes author-
ized the various County Commissions to enact a surcharge (up
to four dollars ($4.00) per traffic citation paid) to fund
local school crossing guards; and
WHEREAS, the Broward County Commission enacted Ordinance
0-85-65 establishing a four dollar ($4.00) surcharge per
traffic citation paid; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has already established a
school crossing guard program within the police department
which is funded by other revenues of the City and would
prefer to expand the program if funds were available.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTI-ON 1: Finding of Fact - That the City hereby
acknowledges that there is an ongoing school crossing guard
program funded at an annual cost of $ 21,000,00 to the City.
SECTION Z: That the City desires to receive its share
of the surcharge revenues collected by the Clerk of Courts
for Broward County.
5ECTION-3: That the surcharge revenues received will be
used only for the funding of the city's existing school
crossing guard program or expanding said program.
$EECTII 4: That the City Clerk is directed to send a
copy of this Resolution to Scott Cowan, Chairman of Broward
County Board of County Commissioners; Floyd Johnson, County
Administrator; and Robert Lockwood, Broward County Clerk of
Courts.
SUCTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective
November 15, 1985.
