CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R- O--//
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO CREATE A LIAISON
AND COOPERATIVE ATMOSPHERE WITH CRIME WATCH
OF BROWARD COUNTY, INC., WITH REGARD TO ESTAB-
LISHING A SOUND AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNITY CRIME
PREVENTION PROGRAM IN THE CITY OF TAMARAC.
WHEREAS, Crime Watch of Broward County, Inc. is a not -for -
profit corporation of the State of Florida, organized by the citizens
of Broward County to assist their law enforcement agencies in
combating neighborhood crime; and
WHEREAS, Crime Watch of Broward County, Inc. is presently
established in the City of Tamarac, working in cooperation with the
Tamarac Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council encourages community interaction by
the citizens of Tamarac with their police department; and
WHEREAS, the police, working alone, cannot and do not have
sufficient resources to eliminate criminal opportunity in a
sophisticated urbanized society if the citizens abdicate their
responsibilities for the maintenance of public order; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Tamarac are becoming increasingly
aware of the role that they must play in order to permit the police
to provide their community with the safety and security they desire;
and
WHEREAS, it is absolutely necessary that the citizens of our
community work together in the detection and prevention of crime by
being alert to activities in their neighborhood and reporting all
suspicious activities to the police; and
WHEREAS, Crime Watch of Broward County, Inc., provides the
spirit of cooperation, the organization and training in conjunction
with the Tamarac Police Department, acceptable to this City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

SECTION 1: That the City Council supports and endorses Crime
Watch of Broward County, Inc. in its efforts. to stimulate public
awareness in the prevention of Crime in our community, and encourages
the citizens of Tamarac to participate with Crime Watch of Broward
County and the Tamarac Police Department in a concerted effort to
reduce crime in their communities.
