4 A RESOLUTION CALLING UPON OUR CONGRESSIONAL
AND SENATORIAL REPRESENTATIVES IN WASHINGTON,
D.C., TO URGE THE RETENTION AND CONTINUATION
OF REVENUE SHARING ON A NATIONAL BASIS; IN-
5 DICATING THE SINCERE INTEREST OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF,THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, IN
7 CONTINUING AND RETAINING REVENUE SHARING AS
THE LIFEBLOOD FOR,STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL
g GOVERNMENT SERVICE PROGRAMS; AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO DO ALL THINM NECESSARY AND EXPEDIENT
9 TO CARRY OUT THE AIMS AND INTENTIONS OF THIS
RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council and

to the administration of the City of Tamarac that unless the Congress
13
acts to extend Federal general revenue sharing, the present program
14
will end this year and the October,1980, quarterly payment will be
15
the last under the present law; and
16
WHEREAS, for several years, Broward County's more than four
Million ($4,000,000.00)Dollars of revenuing sharing has been used
to fund the emergency medical services program including the contract-
19
ual agreements which are maintained with a number of Broward County
20
municipalities, and the funds are further used to maintain other
21
important and key services in and about Broward County, Florida; and
22
WHEREAS, the loss of Federal general revenue sharing will
23
have a significant and substantial adverse economic impact upon each
24
and every municipality in Broward County, Florida, and upon the
25
State of Florida; and
26
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the best
27
method and manner in which to voice its disdain for the termination
28
of general revenue sharing funding programs is to communicate the
29
views of this Council directly to our Congressional and Senatorial
} representatives to urge the retention and continuation of Federal
general revenue sharing;

NOW,.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
33
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

SECTION 1: That the City Council publicly requests and
35
implores our Congressional and Senatorial representatives in
36
Washington, D.C., to urge the retention and for the continuation of
Federal general revenue sharing funds which will end this year.
SECTION 2: That each and every individual Council member be
urged to personally communicate with our Congressional and Senatorial'
representatives to indicate the significant and substantial economic
hardships which will result from the termination of one of the most
beneficial and successful Federal programs in the history of our
Country.
SECTION 3: That the Mayor of the City of Tamarac is
authorized and requested by the City Council to personally take all
appropriate action to contact our Congressional and Senatorial
representatives to urge the retention and extention of Federal
general revenue sharing programs as they currently exist and as the
same applies to each and every municipality in Broward County, Florid
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon adoption. _,��
