CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-QD -/��
A RESOLUTION PETITIONING FLORIDA'S PUBLIC
SERVICE COMMISSION TO STOP FURTHER IMPLE-
MENTATION AND/OR CONSIDERATION OF LOCAL
MEASURED SERVICE (LMS) RATE PLANS FOR
SOUTHERN BELL CUSTOMERS.
WHEREAS, Local Measured Service rate plans were initially_
introduced for the purpose of having a one-year experiment followed
by public hearings before the Public Service Commission, and
WHEREAS, Local Measured Service plans will raise the basic
monthly rates for all Southern Bell users, and
WHEREAS, LMS is a deception in that it offers low rates in
experimental areas, but will result in across-the-board rate
increases to users, and
WHEREAS, Southern Bell has not proven that this intricate
new rate scheme is justified by costs, and
WHEREAS, Southern Bell users are supportive of the low-priced
lifeline rates, especially for senior citizens and non-commercial
users of telephone services,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLOVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City of Tamarac herein petitions the
Public Service Commission of the State of Florida to stop further
implementation and/or consideration of Local Measured Service (LMS)
rate plans for Southern Bell customers.
SECTION 2: That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be
mailed to the Public Service Commission, all members of the Public
Service Commission, and the Florida Consumers Federation.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its passage.
