HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity of Tamarac Resolution R-80-021Introduced by: V/ �-2 Temp. # 1507 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 '8 9 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 ill 32 33 34 35 36 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. 2 a A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING OPH)SITION TO RELEASE OF CANAL RESERVATIONS IN LAND SECTION 7, TOWNSHIP 49 SOUTH; RANGE 41 EAST IN THE CITY OF TAMARAC WHEREAS, certain canal reservations exist in Land Section 7, Township 49 South, Range 41 East, within the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, Section 7 is undeveloped; and WHEREAS, Tamarac is unaware of any plans to develop all or part of Section 7; and WHEREAS, Tamarac has had and continues to experience drainage problems; and WHEREAS, many drainage problems have been caused by failure to exercise control over developers from the beginning of their project; and WHEREAS, the City Council is determined that it will do everything - in its power to see that past errors concerning drainage are not repeated in Section 7; and WHEREAS, Tamarac has committed itself to have prepared a Master Plan for drainage in Land Section 7; and . WHEREAS, Tamarac has not heretofore prepared a master plan because Section 7 is vacant and there has been no indication that there was any intention to develop any part of it. days; and WHEREAS, Tamarac expects the Master Plan to be completed within 90 WHEREAS, Tamarac is opposed to the release of any canal reservations by the South Florida Water Management District before a master drainage plan is completed and adopted; and WHEREAS, canal reservations may be useful and necessary to insure proper drainage in Land Section 7; and WHEREAS, other means to obtain drainage needs do not obviate the necessity to keep the canal reservations for once lost they are gone forever. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the South Florida Water Management District is 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 implored and urged not to release any canal reservations in Section 7, Township 49 South, Range 41 East, until Tamarac has had an opportunity to prepare and approve a Master Plan for drainage in Section 7 - estimated to be ninety (90) days. After the plan is completed the Water Management District may revisit the matter from a more enlightened perspective. SECTLON 2: This Resolution shall be effective upon adoption.
