CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. k—Ko /
A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE VOTERS OF BROWARD COUNTY
TO VOTE IN FAVOR OF A REFERENDUM STRENGTHENING THE
POWER AND AUTHORITY OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CONSUMER
BOARD ON NOVEMBER 4, 1980
WHEREAS, the voters of Broward County will have the opportunity on
November 4, 1980 to protect themselves by voting to enlarge the power and
authority of the Broward County Consumer Board; and
WHEREAS, the increase of power and authority would be to allow
said Board to enforce its orders against businesses found guilty of unfair or
deceptive practices by imposing penalties of up to $500 per day per violation, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has a long and proud history in the
area of Consumer Protection, and
WHEREAS, said referendum would be in the best interests of the
people of Broward County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The recitations set forth above are true and correct.
SECTION 2: The Tamarac City Council encourages the voters of
Broward County to vote in favor of a referendum strengthening the power and
authority of the Broward County Consumer Board on November 4, 1980.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall be effective upon adoption.
