CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT WORKSHEETS
FOR THE RELEASES OF AIRPORT LAND
WHEREAS, the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and Industrial Airpark is
owned and operated by the City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and
WHEREAS, portions of the City of Tamarac lie immediately west and south
of the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, and
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Tamarac are adversely affected
by the increasing number of operations of business jet aircraft with high noise
levels, and
WHEREAS, the airport operator proposes to extend runway 8 westward to
Tamarac, and
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration proposes to install an
instrument landing system (ILS) on the west end of runway 8, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Lauderdale has prepared three Environmental
work sheets for releases of airport land, identifed as City Engineering project*
numbers 7554 (June 1980), 7551-A (September 1980) and 7551-B (September 1980), and
WHEREAS, the subject land will be used for the construction of, among
other things, an aircraft parking apron to accommodate fifty additional aircraft
of the size of the Lear Jet/Sabreliner, a motel with 200 rooms, restaurants and
small meeting or convention facilities, office building with direct access to
the runway system and an aircraft parking apron, and an aircraft maintenance
facility to accommodate the Lear Jet family of aircraft, and
WHEREAS, these projects will attract more operation by business air craft
which will exacerbate existing noise •impact.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City of Tamarac strongly opposes the proposed
projects at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport on environmental grounds and states
that the proposed improvements will have an adverse impact on the residents of
the City.
SECTION 2: That the proposed projects will result in increased traffic
by business jet aircraft.
SECTION 3: That the City of Tamarac demands that an environmental assess-
ment be prepared for the projects in accordance with FAR 155.11(c)(12), published

in 45 Fed. Reg. 56620 (1980) and FAA Order 5050.4, Par. 24.b.
SECTION 4: That the proposed projects be reviewed simultaneously with
the proposals for installation of the ILS and for extension of runway 8 and that
a related impact be considered cumulatively and not individually.
SECTION 5: That a copy of this Resolution to be provided to the Mayor
of the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Secretary of the Department of Transportation,
the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Authority, the Chairman of the Broward
County Board of Commissioners, the Chairman of the South Florida Regional Planning
Council and Mayors of other affected municipalities.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective upon its adoption.
