CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES URGING
THE ADOPTION OF THE GENERAL REVENUE SHARING
REAUTHORIZATION"BILL AND AN APPROPRIATE
AMENDMENT TO REFLECT INFLATION.
WHEREAS, the purchasing power of general revenue sharing dollars
is now 50 per cent of the 1972 level and there have been no increases
in revenue sharing for local governments since 1976, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac as other municipalities has
experienced the effect of inflation and now certain revenue losses
due to economic restraints, and
WHEREAS, House Resolution 7112 provides for certain necessary
and desirable provisions relating to revenue sharing and, with appropri
amendments, said bill could go a long way to alleviate the financial
plight of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1:That the Congress of the United States is urged to
adopt the General Revenue Sharing Reauthorization Bill (H.R. 7112)
with such.amendments as are recommended and approved by the National
League of Cities so that increased funding for the fiscal yeas
1982 and 1983 can be accomplished along with a countercyclical
assistance program for local governments.
SECTION, 2: That the City Clerk is authorized and directed to
furnish appropriate copies of this Resolution to members of Congress,
the Florida Delegation, Appropriation Committee, Broward League of
Cities and Florida League of Cities.
