RESOLUTION NO. 25-69
A RESOLUTION ADVISING THE STATE ROAD DEPARTMENT
AND THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA OF
THE POSITION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, REGARDING THE SIXTEEN YEAR ROAD
PROGRAM OF THE STATE ROAD DEPARTMENT, AND THE
REFUND TO THE MUNICIPALITIES OF ONE-HALF CENT OF
THE PROPOSED ADDITIONAL ONE -CENT TAX ON GASOLINE.
WHEREAS, at a recent meeting of the Committee on Roads
and Highways of the Florida League of Municipalities held in
Tallahassee on April 17, 1969, the Committee approved the
State Road Department's sixteen year road program provided
that one-half cent from the proposed additional one -cent tax
on gasoline be returned to the municipalities; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
Florida, after careful research and study, is of the opinion
that such a plan would materially aid and benefit all of the'
incorporated and unincorporated areas within the State of
Florida, and such a plan would inure to the benefit of all
of the citizens of the State of Florida; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the State Road Department and the
Legislature of the State of Florida be and the same are hereby
advised that the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida,
is hereby on record in support of and does hereby endorse
the sixteen year road program of the State Road Department of
the State of Florida, provided that such sixteen year road
program make adequate provision for a return of one-half cent
from the proposed additional one -cent tax on gasoline to the
municipalities where the said additional gasoline tax is
collected, and that the monies so derived be used only for
street and highway purposes within the municipalities, meeting
the obligation of the municipality to support the sixteen year
plan.
