HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity of Tamarac Resolution R-71-020CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION # •- ,7_ 0 WHEREAS, a Charter Board has been elected pursuant to Florida Statutes 166, and WHEREAS, said Board has requested the appointment of an attorney to act as their adviser and counsel, and WHEREAS, the Attorney General's office has rendered an opinion indicating that the City Attorney's office shall act as the adviser to boards of the City inclusive of the Charter Board, and WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Tamarac provides that the City Council may appoint a City Attorney and such assistants as may be necessary, and WHEREAS, the Charter Board has requested that the City Council provide for the services of Richard A. Bird to act as their legal adviser, and WHEREAS, the City Council is now desirous of appointing Richard A. Bird to be a special Assistant City Attorney for the purpose of acting as legal adviser and counsel to the elected Charter Board. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL of the City of Tamarac, Florida: That Richard A. Bird is hereby appointed as special Assistant City Attorney for the sole purpose of acting as attorney for and counsel to the Charter Board elected pursuant to Florida Statutes No. 166. That said appointment is for the purpose of providing that legal assistance as is required and requested by the Charter Board. Said appointment shall be effective so long as the contemplated services are needed to carry out the purposes of the elected Charter Board. Richard A. Bird shall receive as compensation for his services rendered the sum of $25.00 per hour. The City Clerk -Manager is instructed to pay said compensation only after request for payment has been made to the Chairman and Secretary of the Charter Board and, in turn, the Chairman and Secretary of the Charter Board certify to R the City Council that payment for same should be made.
