CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION DECLARING ASIX MONTHS MORATORIUM
ON HOOK-UPS TO THE CITY SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
AND PROVIDING A METHOD OF EXCEPTIONS THERETO.
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has reported that an
essential piece of equipment is not working at the City
of Tamarac sewage treatment plant, and
WHEREAS, absent this "flow meter" it is not possible
to gauge, with accuracy, the volume of sewage being handled
by the plant, and,
WHEREAS, it appears that the said plant is operating
at or near maximum capacity and that should the plant be
overloaded a serious danger would exist to the health and
welfare of the hundreds of homeowners served by the plant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
of the City of Tamarac, Florida:
SECTION 1: That a six months moratorium is hereby
established during which time no further hook-ups shall be
permitted to the City of Tamarac sewage treatment plant.
SECTION 2: That exception may be made upon application
to the City Council and demonstration that a genuine hard-
ship exists to the applicant and that the granting of a
waiver will not result in an overload on the sewage treatment
plant.
SECTION 3: That during the moratorium the city admin-
istration and the city engineer shall make positive effort
to determine the flow of sewage at the sewage treatment
plant and make recommendation as to any danger they may
find to the health and welfare of the residents by virtue
thereof.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall take effect im-
mediately upon its final passage.
