HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity of Tamarac Resolution R-72-034This RESOLUTION was introduced by CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. _ c A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE POLICE CHIEF AS THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY; DEFINING HIS AUTHORITY UNDER CHAPTER 316, FLORIDA STATUTES; AND AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TRUCK ROUTES. WHEREAS, Chapter 316, FLORIDA STATUTES provides for State Uniform Traffic Control, and WHEREAS, various sub -sections thereof authorize municipal authorities to establish speed zones, no -passing zones, erect traffic control devices and otherwise implement the code, and WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of designating the Chief of Police as the Director of Public Safety for such purposes and for other purposes described herein. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL of The City of Tamarac, Florida: SECTION 1: That the Chief of Police be and he is hereby designated as the Director of Public Safety of the City of Tamarac with full power and authority to designate speed limits, no passing zones, limited parking areas, one-way streets and other traffic control decisions authorized to be designated by local authorities under Chapter 316, FLOIRDA STATUTES. SECTION 2: That the Director of Public Safety is authorized to erect such traffic control signs and devices as he deems advisable, subject to the limitations of Chapter 316, FLORIDA STATUTES, and subject to budgetary approval by the finance department. � I SECTION 3: That the Director of Public Safety is further authorized to designate truck routes through the City and to forbid through truck traffic on other streets and roads. SECTION 4: That the Director of Public Safety is authorized to designate someone to act in his place and stead during his absence or disability.
