RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE PETITION TO REZONE PROPERTY.
ON COERCIAL BOULEVARD WEST OF ROCK ISLAND ROAD FROM
................
WHEREAS, a petition is pending before the Board of County.
Commissioners to rezone property on Commercial Boulevard west of
Rock Island Road from R-1C zoning to B-2 classification, and
WHEREAS, such property is directly across Commercial Boulevard
from the Woodlands golf course, encompassing one of the most unique
single family golf course communities in Broward County, and
WHEREAS, the present R-IC zoning of such.property acts as a
buffer against commercial encroachment on such subdivision and the
proposed shopping center on the parcel would tend to.undermine the
integrity of the zoning pattern in the Woodlands subdivision,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE City of
Tamarac, Florida:
SECTION'1: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
protests the proposed rezoning of the parcel in question from
R-IC zoning to B-2 zoning or to any other commercial or multiple
family classification.
SECTION 2: That the Board of County Corrmlissioners is urged.
to re -study the zoning on Rock Island Road and adjacent areas
with a view to upgrading the zoning from B-3 to a zoning classification.
more consistent with the existence of the Sable Palms golf course,
a single family subdivision lying opposite thereto.
