CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. --
A RESOLUTION DIRECTED TO THE BROWARD
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION REQUESTING
RELIEF FROM LEGISLATION EFFECTING MUNICI-
PALITIES WITH CURRENT MILLAGE RATES OF
3 MILLS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida legislation has recently passed a
law effecting municipalities within the State of Florida who
presently are levying a 3 mills tax; and
WHEREAS, under said Florida law those municipalities
would be forced to lower this millage in the event ad valorem
taxes should be increased in order not to increase the tax load
of its citizens, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac would lose its revenue
sharing programs if, in fact, the millage was rolled back to a
figure less than 3 mills.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC , FLORIDA:
SECTION 1.: That the City Council of the City of
Tamarac hereby formally requests that the Broward County Legislative
Delegation be informed of"its objection to this particular legis-
lative act, because of the detriment that would be occasioned by
the citizens of Tamarac if the City of Tamarac is not given a
special exception to said legislative act, allowing it to lower
its millage in the event ad valorem taxes increase while remaining
eligible for Federal and State revenue sharing programs.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this day of 19.74.
