CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE
GENERAL ELECTION REFERENDUM ON AMENDMENT
TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC
WHEREAS, a general election was held on March 4, 1975
for the purpose of a referendum on Amendments to the Charter
of the City of Tamarac, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has accepted the results of
the Votomatic voting and absentee ballots as certfied by the
Election Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section
166.031, the following amendment is declared to have failed:
"SUBSECTION cc of SECTION 11, ARTICLE III of the Charter of
the City of Tamarac is hereby amended to read as follows:
CC. To exercise all the powers of local self--
government and to do whatever may be deemed necessary or
proper for the safety, health, or general welfare of the
inhabitants of said City; to exercise full police powers;
to do and perform all acts and things permitted by the
laws of the State of Florida, and comprehended as duties
in the performance of anything recognized as a "Municipal
Purpose" whether now existing and recognized, or hereafter
recognized.as a municipal purpose by Statute Law or Court
decision, where the same is not in conflict with the
provisions of this Charter.
Notwithstanding the above, it is hereby declared
that the ayment of public funds for the purposes of
securing the services of a lobb ist is not a public
ur ose or a munici al purpose since the laws provide for
elected officials, city, county and state who have the
duty of protecting the interests of the peo2le of
Tamarac. This paragraph is not to be construed to
prohibit the payment of the usual salaries and compensations
to elected officials, city manager or cit attorne , for
services rendered pursuant to the direction of the City___
Council."
