CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL
ELECTION REFERENDUM ON AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC
WHEREAS, a general election was held on March 4, 1975,
for the purpose of a referendum on Amendments to the Charter
of the City of Tamarac, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has accepted the results of the
Votomatic voting and absentee ballots as certified by the
Election Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section
166.031, the following amendment is declared to have failed:
"SECTION 132 of ARTICLE XX of the Charter of the City of
Tamarac is hereby amended to add thereto a new unnumbered
paragraph which shall read as follows:
The interpretation, application and enforcement of this
Charter shall require proper consideration of the followin
PREAMBLE:
The intents of this Charter Board, elected under Florida
Statutes, Chapter 166, in preparing and recommending the
Charter of the City of Tamarac, Florida, are to provide at
the City level, for the following:
1. That all provisions in the previous Charter and amend-
ments thereto shall be abolished and replaced by this
new Charter, which shall become effective immediately
after receiving a favorable majority vote of the voters
at the special referendum election held on May 18, 1971.
2. Means for protecting primarily the past, present and
future rights and interests of the people.
3. Means for the people to control by petition and re-
ferendum such things as:
a. Their elected representatives
b. Budgets
c. Taxation
d. Changes in boundaries
e. Amendments to this Charter
f. Elections
g. All types of bonds and major improvements
h. Franchises

4. That all provisions in this Charter and all future
amendments shall be concise and clear and shall comply
with the Constitution of the State of Florida and shall
cite and comply with the basic applicable Florida
Statutes. All interpretations shall favor these intents.
5. That each odd numbered year a Charter Board shall be
duly elected at the regular annual election under
Florida Statutes and such board shall have the final
authority and responsibility to recommend amendments
to this Charter.
6. That a duly elected Election Board shall have the
final authority and responsibility to determine voting
districts, outcome of elections and any other matter
related to elections.
7. That an appointed City Clerk -Custodian shall have all
the custodial authorities and responsibilities bestowed
by Florida Statutes 119.
8. That if any part of this Charter is declared invalid,
all other parts shall continue to be valid.
9. Effective and prompt enforcement of this Charter.
Signed and approved by all the remaining members of the
Charter Board on April 16, 1971, at City Hall in Tamarac.
