CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. 75-49
A RESOLUTION COMMENORATING LAW DAY USA;
DIRECTING THE PROMULGATION OF A MAYORAL
PROCLAMATION WITH RESPECT THERETO.
WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America
has designated the 1st day of May as LAW DAY USA, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
Florida, is desirous of commenorating the celebration of LAW
DAY USA, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
Florida, recognizes that ours is a society of laws and not of men,
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
Section 1: The City Council of the City of Tamarac,
Florida, on behalf of the citizenry of the City of Tamarac, does
hereby recognize and reaffirm that the great American society lives
by and through a system of laws supporting the democratic ideal,
without which men would be subject to the caprice and tyranny of
a few.
Section 2: It is within the best interest of the citizenry
of the City of Tamarac to commemorate and support LAW DAY USA, and,
therefore, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida, does
hereby direct that the Mayor issue a proclamation commemorating
LAW DAY USA and urging all of the citizens of the City of Tamarac
to recognize this special day and to join in its observance through
Court visitation and the attendance at various Law Day programs.
Section 3: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.

MAYORAL PROCLAMATION
LAW DAY USA
It is especially fitting on the occasion of the dual observance
this year of LAW DAY USA on May 1st, and our Nation's Bi-Centennial
Celebration in 1975 and 1976, that every citizen reflect upon the role
of rule and law in safeguarding individual rights.
This year will mark the 18th annual nation-wide observance of Law
Day. The theme selected for the recognition of this May event is:
AMERICA'S GOAL - JUSTICE THROUGH LAW.
Equal justice under law has been an American goal ever since Alexander
Hamilton wrote some 192 years ago that the independent judicial system
is "the best expedient which can be devised to secure a steady, upright
and impartial administration of the Law." We must all support and par-
ticipate in the operations of government to ensure the achievement of
this goal for every American in all areas of regional concern.
NOW, THEREFORE, T , DWTGHT E, JOHNSON, Mayor of the City of Tamarac,
Florida, do hereby proclaim Thursday May 1st 1975 as LAW DAY USA in the City
of Tamarac and do hereby urge all of the citizens of this community to com-
memorate the special day and to join in its observance through the honoring
of the law, Court visitations, and attendance at a Bar Association sponsored
Law Day program.
