HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity of Tamarac Resolution R-1975-079This Resolution was introduced by ✓� CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. q A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR A CLARIFICATION AND DESIGNATION OF THREE ELECTION BOARD MEMBERS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE TERM OF OFFICE AS ELECTED IN THAT TAMARAC GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 4 1975 AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. TEMP. # Q� WHEREAS, three seats were placed on the ballot of Tamarac's 1975 General Election; and WHEREAS, the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast in said election were Virginia Taylor, Fred A. Calkins and George Baer; and WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Tamarac designate specifically which unexpired term on the Election Board each elected candidate was selected to occupy; and WHEREAS, Article II, Section 71 of Tamarac's City Charter provided that initially the candidates receiving the highest number of votes were elected to the available seats providing for the longer terms of office; and WHEREAS, one member of the Election Board as elected in March, 1975 shall replace the seat formerly occupied by Muriel Barnes as elected in 1974 and shall be eligible to continue in office until the General Election of 1978; and WHEREAS, two members of the Election Board as elected in March, 1975 shall occupy those seats originally held by Mr. Cook and Mr. Blake as elected in 1972, and shall be eligible to continue in office until the General Election of 1976. 11 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That Virginia Taylor is hereby designated as having been elected to hold the seat on the Tamarac Election Board as formerly held by Muriel Barnes as elected in 1974, and shall be eligible to remain in that office until the Tamarac General Election to be held in 1978. ,d. make reports to the City Council at its regular scheduled council meetings. SECTION 4: The Charter Review Commission shall be charged with the authority to investigate all facets of the present City Charter and to recommend amendment or deletion of any portion of said Charter, it being the further intent of the council that this Board shall be vested with advisory powers.
