CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. -I t—, g
A RESOLUTION DEMANDING THE REMOVAL OF ALL CRIMINALLY
INSANE PERSONS NOW HELD IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA STATE
HOSPITAL.
WHEREAS, during the past several years numerous criminally
insane persons have been committed to the South Florida State Hospital,
and
WHEREAS, the security of the wards in which these persons are
placed is grossly inadequate and the personnel assigned to secure said
wards are not properly equipped to properly secure criminally insane
persons in that they are not allowed to carry arms, and
WHEREAS, feeble efforts in an attempt to stop said escapes
have met with no success, and escapes continue on a regular basis, and
WHEREAS, the residents of all cities in Broward County are
becoming increasingly concerned for their safety and the safety of
their families resulting from these repeated escapes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: It is the demand of the City Council of the
City of Tamarac, Florida that all criminally insane persons be removed
from the South Florida State Hospital and that all judges be directed to
cease committing any further criminals to the South Florida State
Hospital.
