CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING BROWARD
COUNTY COMMISSION'S POSITION ON
THE BANNING OF HAND GUNS KNOWN
MORE SPECIFICALLY AS "SATURDAY
NIGHT SPECIALS"; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida is located and
situated in Broward County, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac's administration and City
Council is highly concerned about the safety, health and welfare
of its residents so residing within the City of Tamarac, Broward
County, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the Broward County Commission has openly
supported legislation by County Ordinance to ban the sale of hand
guns known specifically as "Saturday Night Specials", and
WHEREAS, the Broward County Commission has researched
the sale and purchase of hand guns within Broward County and has
suggested incorporation into a proposed Ordinance stipulations
relating to a cooling off period of a minimum of 72 hours and
proper identification and police background checked prior to the
sale of said hand guns regardless of make or type.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City of Tamarac, Florida does
hereby affirm and support the position taken by the Broward
County Commission regarding the ban of the sale of hand guns
known more specifically as "Saturday Night Specials".
SECTION 2: That the City of Tamarac, Florida does
hereby support and encourage enactment of County Ordinance re-
stricting the sale and purchase of hand guns providing for a
waiting or cooling off period of a minimum of 72 hours and pro-
viding for proper police identification and background check of

all persons desiring to purchase a hand gun within Broward
County, Florida.
SECTION 3: That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded
to the Broward County Commission.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.
