CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION # Ilp-- `L
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE BROWARD
COUNTY COMMISSION CONSIDER IN THEIR BUDGET
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A LIBRARY BRANCH
FACILITY AS PART OF THE COUNTY LIBRARY
SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Tamarac City Council did on December
11, 1975, create a Public Library Advisory Board, and
WHEREAS, the Public Library Advisory Board was
authorized and directed to explore ways and means, whereby
a public library could be established for the citizens of
Tamarac, and
WHEREAS, the Public Library Advisory Board,
explored fully and completely all avenues to accomplish
the purpose for which it was created, and
WHEREAS, the Public Library Advisory Board finds
and recognizes that providing public library service is a
function of the County, and
WHEREAS, that there now exists a Broward County
Library System established for the purpose of providing
library service to the citizens of Broward County, and
WHEREAS, the Public Library Advisory Board finds
that it is economically unfeasible for the City of Tamarac
to establish a municipal library, with the attendant costs
and expenses incurred thereby to be borne solely by the citizens
of Tamarac, when there exists a Broward County Library System
paid for and supported by all the taxpayers of Broward County,
and that the citizens of Tamarac are entitled to and should

share equally with other citizens of Broward County, in the
use of library facilities by establishing a branch library
in the Tamarac area.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the Tamarac City Council this
date unanimously requests and recommends that Broward County
Commission at their budget hearing scheduled for June, 1976,
consider as a part of their new budget for the operation of
the Broward County Library System, the allocation of funds,.
for the purpose of enabling the Broward County Library Board
to establish as a part of the County Library System, a Library
Branch Facility located in Tamarac, for the use and convenience
of the residents of Broward County, living in Tamarac and the
Western section of Broward County.
