CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO CONTRACT WITH, AND THROUGH, THE NATIONAL
SHERIFF'S ASSOCIATION TO PROVIDE FOR ADDI-
TIONAL COMPREHENSIVE LIABILITY INSURANCE
COVERAGE FOR, AND TO, CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS,
THE MAYOR, THE CITY MANAGER, CITY ATTORNEY,
DEPARTMENT HEADS AND OTHER EMPLOYEES OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes that no one is
immune from suit and from possible financial ruin, and
WHEREAS, the Florida Constitution, the Florida Statutes,
and the Tamarac City Charter waives Sovereign Immunity for
liability for torts, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has been authorized by the
Florida Statutes to purchase insurance for the protection against
liability for said tort actions, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes the need for
financial protection against any potential losses which might be
incurred in the performance of official duties, and
WHEREAS, the City Council is now desirous of affording
insurance coverage to elected officials of this City, appointed
officers, police, firemen, and other employees of the City of
Tamarac.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION I: That the City
Manager
be, and he is hereby
authorized
to purchase, and enter
into,
an agreement with the
National
Sheriff's Association
for the
specific purpose of
Providing
additional protection
and coverage for Government
Officials
as a unit
and employees of the
of Government.
