SUBJECT'. BID RECOMMENDATIONS FOR UNIFORMS
REFERENCE:
At an earlier date the Chief of Police had recommended that we award the
bid on uniforms on a partial basis, that is to say that the blouses, skirts,
hats would be awarded to Lamar Uniform. The Police and Public Safety
uniforms to Argo and raincoats, gloves to Fairchild Products Corp.
Furthermore, after reviewing the remaining unencumbered funds to purchase
uniforms there would not be enough money after we award these bids as
recommended to pay for the uniforms being requested on the bid froms.
Therefore, it is my recommendation that we do the following:
1. Award the bid to Argo excluding blouses, skirts, hats, raincoats,
gloves and further reduce the quantity bid by 40%. As a result
of that 40% reduction the Police Chief could spend $4,626.85.
2. That the raincoats and gloves be awarded to Fairchild Products
Corp., corresponding with a 40% reduction that would allow
$671.88 for the Police Chief to spend.
The total amount of $5,228.76 could be expended on uniforms and would fall
within the remaining unencumbered balance of $5,714.00.
As a result this would leave approximately $486.00 as an unencumbered
balance to buy ladies slacks, skirts and blouses.
It should be noted that Lamar Uniforms would not consider a partial bid
basis as recommended by the Police Chief and have accordingly withdrawn
their bid.
If I can be of further assistance, please contact me.
