A RESOLUTION APPROVING A ROAD IMPROVEMENT
PROGRAM PROPOSED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS AND AUTHORIZING APPROPRIATE
CITY OFFICIALS TO NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE COUNTY FOR SUCH IMPROVEMENTS.
WHEREAS, the population of Broward County, Florida, and the
City has greatly exceeded the capabilities of certain roadways
within the City which has thereby created a condition of intolerable
traffic congestion; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has proposed a
road improvement program that would require the City to share pro-
portionately with the County in the improvement of Commercial
Boulevard from Sunshine State Parkway to Powerline Road; and
Commercial Boulevard from Northwest 61st Avenue to Sunshine State
Parkway; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tamarac, Florida, approves of
the road improvement proposal of the Board of County Commissioners
of Broward County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Tamarac, Florida, that:
SECTION 1: The City Council of Tamarac finds and determines
that it is necessary for the public health, safety and welfare of
the residents of the City to improve Commercial Boulevard from
Sunshine State Parkway to Powerline Road; and Commercial Boulevard
from Northwest 61st Avenue to Sunshine State Parkway.
SECTION 2: The City Council of Tamarac, Florida finds and
determines that:
(a) The County road improvement proposal sets forth a
rational and equitable method of improving Commercial Boulevard from
Sunshine State Parkway to Powerline Road; and Commercial Boulevard
from Northwest 61.st Avenue to Sunshine State Parkway, and
(b) It is beneficial for the City to cooperate in such
road improvement project.

SECTION 3: The City Council of Tamarac agrees to share the
proportionate expense for such project under such terms and condi-
tions that are to be incorporated into a written agreement between
the City and Broward County.
SECTION 4: The appropriate officials of the City are
authorized to enter into negotiations with Broward County for the
establishment of a written agreement of cooperation for the improve-
ment of Commercial Boulevard from Sunshine State Parkway to
Powerline Road; and Commercial Boulevard from Northwest 61st Avenue
to Sunshine State Parkway.
SECTION 5: This resolution shall take effect immediately.
