Introduced by:�f CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION N0. %6—— A RESOLUTION STRONGLY URGING THE BROWARD COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO TAKE WATEVER ACTION IS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT RESOLUTION 75-61 TO MOVE THE IMPROVEMENT OF COMMERCIAL BOULEVARD FROM THE PLANNING TO THE CONSTRUCTION STAGE AS EXPEDITIOUSLY AS POSSIBLE Temp# Los WHEREAS, on August 26, 1975, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 75-61, and WHEREAS, said Resolution determined that construction and improvements were necessary of Commercial Boulevard one mile east and west of University Drive, and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, to facilitate the con- struction and improvement, undertook, on behalf of Broward County, to obtain from the abutting property owners, easements and con- veyances of a portion of their property for right-of-way purposes, and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has obtained, without expense to Broward County, all the necessary right-of-way easements, at considerable expense to the City of Tamarac, in concessions to the property owners, and time spent by the City, and WHEREAS, the delay in construction and improvement of Commercial Boulevard has resulted in rapid deterioration of city streets creating a potential serious hazardous traffic condition, and WHEREAS, the City of Sunrise is in the process of completing a new cultural -theater complex, which is due to be opened in the month of December, 1976, with a planned ingress and egress from Commercial Boulevard, with an estimated 3000 vehicle traffic load, and WHEREAS, a date for commencement of work for said construction has not as yet been set by the Board of County Commissioners, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac has grave concern as to the effect upon the City of Tamarac by reason of any future delay in the construction and improvement of Commercial Boulevard, and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Tamarac would strongly suggest to the Broward County Board of County Commissioners that they take whatever action necessary and by whatever means required, as expeditiously as possible, to implement their Resolution 75-61 to move this project from the planning stage to the construction stage. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION_1: That the City of Tamarac does hereby urge the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to take the necessary action, by whatever means required, as expeditiously as possible, to implement Broward County Resolution 75-61, adopted August 26, 1975, for the construction and improvement of Commercial Boulevard from the planning stages to the commence- ment of actual construction. SECTION 2: That the Mayor and the Chairman of the City Planning and Zoning Commission are authorized to meet with the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, at their earliest convenience, to offer to Broward County the services and cooperation of the City of Tamarac in whatever manner necessary, or deemed advisable, as being in the best interest to the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Tamarac. I 11 1 SECTION 3: The City Clerk is instructed to communicate a copy of this Resolution to each member of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, immediately upon its adoption.
